• Alpha-1 Adrenergic Receptor Antagonist

Mechanism Of Action Of Silodosin

• Specifically blocks alpha-1A adrenergic receptors found in the prostate and bladder neck.
• Relaxes smooth muscle in these tissues, improving urine flow and reducing symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Therapeutic Indications Of Flopadex

• Treatment of signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men.

Method Of Administration Of Flopadex

• Take one capsule daily with a meal, preferably the same meal each day.
• Swallow the capsule whole without chewing or opening it.

Undesirable Side Effects Of Flopadex

May cause:

1. Retrograde ejaculation
2. Dizziness
3. Orthostatic hypotension (drop in blood pressure when standing)
4. Diarrhea
5. Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and throat)
6. Headache
7. Fatigue

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precaution While Taking Flopadex

• Not indicated for use in women.
• Safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.

Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Flopadex

• Use with caution in patients with low blood pressure.
• Can cause symptomatic hypotension, particularly at the beginning of treatment.
• Inform the surgeon if undergoing cataract or glaucoma surgery (due to Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome - IFIS risk).
• Adjust dose in patients with moderate renal impairment; avoid use in severe renal or hepatic impairment.
