  • Antidiabetic Combination (DPP-4 Inhibitor + Biguanide)

Mechanism Of Action Of Vildagliptin / Metformin

  • Vildagliptin inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, increasing incretin hormones which stimulate insulin release and suppress glucagon production in a glucose-dependent manner.
  • Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity.

Therapeutic Indications Of Sensityn

  • Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control.
  • Indicated when monotherapy with either metformin or vildagliptin does not achieve adequate glycemic control.

Method Of Administration Of Sensityn

  • Take one tablet orally twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
  • Swallow the tablet whole without crushing or chewing.
  • Dose adjustments may be based on blood glucose monitoring and renal function.

Undesirable Side Effects Of Sensityn

May cause:

  1. Hypoglycemia (especially when combined with sulfonylureas or insulin)
  2. Nausea
  3. Diarrhea
  4. Headache
  5. Dizziness
  6. Metallic taste
  7. Peripheral edema (rare)
