- Tacrolimus is an immunosuppressant that inhibits T-lymphocyte activation by binding to the protein FKBP-1 This complex then inhibits calcineurin, blocking the production of interleukin-2 and other cytokines. It is used to prevent organ rejection after transplantation.
Therapeutic Indications Of Protopic Tacrolimus 0.03% Ointment
- Used in case of:
- Atopic dermatitis (eczema).
- Severe eczema in children (aged 2 years and older).
- Prevention of organ transplant rejection (off-label).
