Mechanism Of Action Of Ceftazidime & Avibactam
- Ceftazidime kills bacteria through preventing new cell wall formation. Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.
- Avibactam is in a class of medications called beta-lactamase inhibitors. It works by preventing bacteria from destroying Ceftazidime.
