Mechanism Of Action Of Valaciclovir

• Valaciclovir is a prodrug that is rapidly converted into acyclovir in the body. Acyclovir inhibits viral DNA polymerase, thereby preventing replication of herpes viruses.

Therapeutic Indications Of Herptrex

• Treatment of herpes zoster (shingles)
• Treatment and suppression of genital herpes
• Treatment of cold sores (herpes labialis)
• Reduction of transmission of genital herpes
• Treatment of chickenpox in immunocompromised patients

Method Of Administration Of Herptrex

• Take 500 mg to 1000 mg orally, as directed by your doctor depending on the infection type.
• May be taken with or without food.
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication.
• Start treatment as early as possible at the first signs of symptoms for best results.
