- Dutasteride belongs to a group of medicines called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors
- Inhibitor that inhibits 5-alpha reductase, an intracellular enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the prostate gland, reduces the serum DHT level which leads to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate
