Mechanism of action of Urofollitropin
- FSH directly affects the ovaries in women, where it increases the number of growing follicles and stimulates their development.
- Within the follicles are the developing eggs.
- FSH also increases the production of estrogen, and under the influence of this hormone, the largest follicle continues to develop.
Therapeutic Indications Of Fostimon Ampoule
- Fostimon is used to promote ovulation in women who are not ovulating and who have not responded to other treatments (clomiphene citrate).
- It is used to bring about the development of several follicles (and therefore several eggs) in women receiving fertility treatment.
Method Of Administration Of Fostimon Ampoule
- intramuscular or subcutaneous administration.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Fostimon Ampoule
- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
- Over-stimulation of the ovaries (ovarian hyperstimulation), causing the production of many eggs (see warning section above).
- Headache.
- Constipation.
- Bloating of the abdomen.
- Pain at the site of injection.
