Mechanism Of Action Of BILASTINE
- H1 histamine receptor antagonist; competes for H1-receptor sites in target cells in the respiratory tract, blood vessels, and gastrointestinal tract.
- Non-sedative second generation
Therapeutic Indications Of Bilaxten Tablets
- used for the relief of allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery, red eyes and itchy nose and throat.
- It is also being used to treat hives.
Method Of Administration Of Bilaxten Tablets
- These tablets should not be taken with food or with grapefruit juice or other fruit juices, as this will decrease the effect of bilastine.
- To avoid this, you can: take the tablet and wait for one hour before taking food or fruit juice or if you have taken food or fruit juice, wait for two hours before taking the tablet.
- Bilastine recommended dose is (20 mg) once daily
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

- tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- difficulty in sleeping
- blood tests show changes in the way the kidney is working
- blood fats increased
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Bilaxten Tablets
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, ask your doctor before taking this medicine
Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Common Cold
- Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
- Try to breathe moist air. Use a humidifier or take a steamy shower.
- Consume warm fluids (soup or tea) to provide relief for a stuffy nose and to loosen phlegm.
- Eat a well-balanced diet. If you cannot, ensure you are getting enough nutrients by taking a daily multivitamin.
- Avoid dairy products, as they can thicken phlegm.
Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Bilaxten Tablets
- Do not take it if you are allergic to bilastine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you have moderate or severe renal impairment and in addition, you are taking other medicines
- In particular, please discuss with your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Ketoconazole (an antifungal medicine)
- Erythromycin (an antibiotic)
- Diltiazem (to treat angina)
- Cyclosporine (to reduce the activity of your immune system, thus avoiding
- transplant rejection or reducing disease activity in autoimmune and allergic
- disorders, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis or rheumatoid arthritis)
- Ritonavir (to treat AIDS)
- Rifampicin (an antibiotic)
Storage Conditions Of Bilaxten Tablets

- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
