Mechanism Of Action Of Octreotide

  • Octreotide is a somatostatin analog, which binds to somatostatin receptors on various cells, including neuroendocrine cells, leading to decreased secretion of hormones and neurotransmitters, and reduced tumor growth in conditions such as acromegaly, carcinoid syndrome, and gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
