Mechanism Of Action Of Atomoxetine

• Atomoxetine is known to be a potent and selective inhibitor of the norepinephrine transporter (NET), which prevents cellular reuptake of norepinephrine throughout the brain, which is thought to improve the symptoms of ADHD

Therapeutic Indications Of Strattera 60 Mg Capsules

• Atomoxetine is used to treat attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
• It is used:

1. in children over six years of age
2. in adolescents
3. in adults: In adults, this medicine is used to treat ADHD when the symptoms are very troublesome and affect your work or social life and when you have had symptoms of the disease as a child.
4. It is not for use as a treatment for ADHD in children under 6 years of age as it is not known if the medicine works or is safe in these people.

Method Of Administration Of Strattera 60 Mg Capsules

• The capsules should be swallowed whole, either with or without food.
• The capsules should not be opened and the contents inside the capsules should not be removed and taken in any other way.
• If you are a child or adolescent (6 years or older):

1. Body weight up to 70 kg: a starting total daily dose of 0.5mg per kg of body weight for a minimum of 7 days.
2. Body weight over 70 kg: a starting total daily dose of 40mg for a minimum of 7 days

• Children should not take this medicine without the help from an adult
• Adults: Atomoxetine should be started at a total daily dose of 40mg for a minimum of 7 days.
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

• Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:

1. feeling or having a very fast heartbeat, abnormal rhythms of the heart
2. feeling aggressive

5. serious allergic reaction with symptoms of swelling of the face and throat
6. difficulty breathing
7. hives (small raised, itchy patches of skin)
8. seizures
