Mechanism Of Action Of Febuxostat

  • The primary mechanism of action of febuxostat evaluated in trials was the inhibition of xanthine oxidase, evidenced by the increase in serum and urine xanthine concentrations, decrease in serum and urine uric acid levels

 

Therapeutic Indications Of Agout 40 Mg Tablets

  • Febuxostat is used to treat high levels of uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia) in patients with gout. It is used for the chronic management of gout
  • Febuxostat is also used to treat and prevent high levels of uric acid in the blood in adults with blood cancers who are on chemotherapy.

 

Method Of Administration Of Agout 40 Mg Tablets

  • This medicine is intended for adults above 18 years of age only.
  • Take as indicated by your doctor.
  • The usual recommended dose is 40 mg once daily.
  • Your doctor may increase it to 80 mg once daily if you do not achieve the target. The dose may be increased further to 120 mg once daily.
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
