Mechanism of action of Ursofalk

Therapeutic Indications of Ursofalk
-
Ursofalk is indicated in the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) and for the dissolution of radiolucent gallstones in patients with a functioning gall bladder.

Hepatobiliary disorders associated with cystic fibrosis in children aged 6 to 18 years.
Method of Administration of Ursofalk
- For the first 3 months of treatment, Ursofalk capsules should be taken divided over the day.
- With improvement of the liver values the daily dose may be taken once daily in the evening.
- The capsules should be swallowed whole with some liquid.
- Care should be taken to ensure that they are taken regularly.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects of Ursofalk
- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
- Diarrhoea.
- Itching/pruritus.
- Urticaria (nettle rash)
- Allergic reactions.
- Nausea/vomiting.
- Sleep disturbance.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Ursofalk
- Ursofalk must not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
- Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Ursofalk
- Ursofalk capsules can affect the absorption of ciclosporin from the intestine.
- In patients receiving ciclosporin treatment, blood concentrations of this substance should therefore be checked by the physician and the ciclosporin dose adjusted if necessary.
Storage Conditions of Ursofalk
- Store below 25.
- Don’t freeze.
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label.
- The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
