Mechanism Of Action Of Amisulpride

  • At low doses, amisulpride reduces negative symptoms of schizophrenia by blocking presynaptic dopamine D2 and D3 receptors, increasing the levels of dopamine in the synaptic cleft and facilitating dopaminergic transmission.
  • At higher doses, amisulpride blocks postsynaptic receptors, inhibiting dopaminergic hyperactivity: this explains the drug improving positive symptoms.
  • Amisulpride also works as an antagonist at 5-HT7A receptors and 5-HT2A receptors, which may be related to its antidepressant effects

 

Therapeutic Indications Of Solian 50 Mg Tablets

  • It is used to treat an illness called schizophrenia.
  • Schizophrenia can make you feel, see or hear things that do not exist, have strange and frightening thoughts, change how you act, and make you feel alone.

 

Method Of Administration Of Solian 50 Mg Tablets

  • Take this medicine by mouth.
  • Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water. Do not chew your tablets.
  • Take it before a meal.
  • If you feel the effect of your medicine is too weak or too strong, do not change the dose yourself, but ask your doctor.
  • The amount of Amisulpride you take will depend on your illness. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.
  • The usual dose is between 50 mg and 800 mg each day.
  • Your doctor may start you on a lower dose if necessary.
  • If necessary, your doctor can prescribe up to 1200 mg each day.
  • Doses up to 300 mg each day can be taken as a single dose. Take the dose at the same time each day.
  • Doses above 300 mg should be taken half in the morning and a half in the evening.
  • Amisulpride should not be given to children under 18 years of age.
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.

  • Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
  1. Trembling, muscle stiffness or spasm, slow movement, producing more saliva than usual, or feeling restless.
  2. Difficulty sleeping (insomnia) or feeling anxious or agitated
  3. Feeling drowsy or sleepy
  4. Constipation, feeling or being sick, dry mouth
  5. Unusual production of breast milk in women and men, breast pain
  6. Menstrual period stops
  7. Breast enlargement in men
  8. Difficulty in getting or maintaining an erection, or in ejaculating
  9. Feeling dizzy (which can be due to low blood pressure)
  10. Blurred vision
