Mechanism Of Action Of Cefadroxil
- Cefadroxil is a cephalosporin for oral administration. Like penicillins, it is a beta-lactam antibiotic. It acts By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall thus it inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
- Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.

- It is indicated for the treatment of the following infections due to susceptible microorganisms when oral therapy is indicated:
- Streptococcal pharyngitis and tonsillitis
- Bronchopneumonia, bacterial pneumonia
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections: pyelonephritis, cystitis
- Skin and soft tissue infections: abscesses, furunculosis, impetigo, erysipelas, pyoderma, lymphadenitis
Method Of Administration Of Roxil 500 Mg Capsules
- Adults and children weighing more than 40kg: The recommended dose for adults and children weighing more than 40 kg is 500 mg to 1g twice a day.
- Take this medicine during or after meals.
- The capsules and tablets should be swallowed with plenty of liquid.
- Swallow the capsules whole
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
