Mechanism Of Action Of Clopidogrel

• Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet agent used to prevent blood clots in peripheral vascular disease, coronary artery disease, and cerebrovascular disease.
• Clopidogrel is an inhibitor of platelet activation and aggregation

Therapeutic Indications Of Plavix 75 Mg Tablets

• It is taken by adults to prevent blood clots (thrombi) from forming in hardened blood vessels (arteries), a process known as atherothrombosis, which can lead to atherothrombotic events (such as stroke, heart attack, or death).
• You have been prescribed clopidogrel to help prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of these severe events because:
• You have a condition of hardening of arteries (also known as atherosclerosis)
• You have previously experienced a heart attack, stroke, or have a condition known as peripheral arterial disease
• You have experienced a severe type of chest pain known as ‘unstable angina’ or ‘myocardial infarction’ (heart attack).
• You have an irregular heartbeat, a condition called ‘atrial fibrillation’

Method Of Administration Of Plavix 75 Mg Tablets

• Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose, including for patients with a condition called ‘atrial fibrillation’ (an irregular heartbeat), is one 75 mg tablet of Clopidogrel per day to be taken orally with or without food, and at the same time each day
• If you have experienced severe chest pain (unstable angina or heart attack), your doctor may give you 300 mg of Clopidogrel (1 tablet of 300 mg or 4 tablets of 75 mg) once at the start of treatment. Then, the recommended dose is one 75 mg tablet of Clopidogrel per day as described above.
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Undesirable Side Effects Of Plavix 75 Mg Tablets

• Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:

1. Diarrhea, abdominal pain, indigestion, or heartburn.
2. Headache, stomach ulcer, vomiting, nausea, constipation, excessive gas in the stomach or intestines, rashes, itching, dizziness, the sensation of tingling, and numbness.
3. Vertigo

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

• Wear loose-fitting clothes, socks, or stockings.
• Wear special stockings (called compression stockings) if your doctor prescribes them.
• Do exercises your doctor gives you.
• Change your position often, especially during a long trip.
• Do not stand or sit for more than 1 hour at a time.
• Take all medicines the doctor prescribes you.

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Plavix 75 Mg Tablets

• If any of the situations mentioned below apply to you, you should tell your doctor before taking clopidogrel:

1. if you have a risk of bleeding
2. if you have had a clot in an artery of your brain (ischemic stroke) which occurred within the last seven days
3. if you have kidney or liver disease
4. if you have had an allergy or reaction to any medicine used to treat your disease

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements.
