Mechanism Of Action Of Paracetamol
- Paracetamol acts on the hypothalamus to produce an antipyretic effect, as fever develops when the hypothalamus is set to a higher-than-normal temperature.
- Paracetamol works peripherally to block pain impulse generation; may also inhibit prostaglandin synthesis in CNS.

- Panadol Baby and Infant Oral Suspension contains paracetamol, which is an analgesic (a pain killer that reduces aches and shivers) and antipyretic (reduces temperature when a child has fever).
- Relieves the pain of teething, toothache, and sore throats.
- Reduces the fever often associated with colds and childhood infections such as chickenpox, whooping cough, measles, and mumps.
- Panadol Baby and Infant has a strawberry flavour specially formulated to be pleasant tasting and easy to administer to infants and children.
Therapeutic Indications Of Panadol Baby And Infant Suspension
- Used to treat fever, a temporary increase in body temperature.
- Relieves mild to moderate pain, reduces fever, and relieves discomfort associated with infections, especially in cases of cold and flu.
Instructions For Use
- For oral use only.
- Shake the bottle for at least 10 seconds before use.
- Never give more medicine than shown in the dosage table.
- Always use the spoon supplied with the pack.
- Do not overfill the spoon.
- Do not give with any other paracetamol-containing products.
- Do not give more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period.
- Leave at least 4 hours between doses.
- Do not give this medicine to your child for more than 3 days without speaking to your doctor or pharmacist.
- Not recommended for babies under 2 months except under medical advice.
Method Of Administration Of Panadol Baby And Infant Suspension
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Doses may change from patient to patient based on age, medical condition, and other medications.
- 3–12 months: 2.5–5ml up to 4 times daily or as directed by the physician.
- 1–6 years: 5-10ml up to 4 times daily or as directed by the physician.
- 6–12 years: 10–20ml up to 4 times daily or as directed by the physician.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
