Mechanism Of Action Of Metronidazole

  • Metronidazole is an antiprotozoal, antibacterial agent.
  • It acts by causing damage in the DNA which leads to cell death.

 

Therapeutic Indications Of Flazol Suspension

  • It may be used, under medical supervision, to treat:
  1. Infections, caused by bacteria.
  2. Urinary or genital infections caused by a parasite, Trichomonas
  3. Genital infection in women caused by bacteria
  4. The parasitic diseases amoebiasis
  5. Gum and teeth infections
  6. Infected leg ulcers
  7. Stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori.
  8. Prevention of infections occurring after operations.

 

Method Of Administration Of Flazol Suspension

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
  • Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Doses may change from patient to patient based on your age, your medical condition, and whether or not you are taking other medicines.
  • Continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you.
  • Do not stop taking the medicine or lower the dose without first checking with your doctor.
  • Shake well before use
  • The usual dose is:
  1. For adults: 0.5 g/day to 1.5 g/day or as directed by the physician.
  2. For children: 250 mg/day to 20-40 mg/kg/day or as directed by the physician.
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
