Mechanism of action of Triptorelin
- Triptorelin is a decapeptide analogue of gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) that acts on the pituitary to cause the synthesis and release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), that act on the male testes to stimulate the production of testosterone and on the female ovaries to induce synthesis of estrogen.
Therapeutic Indications Of Decapeptyl Syringe
- Triptorelin injection is in a class of medications called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists.
- It works by decreasing the amount of certain hormones in the body.
- It is used to treat the symptoms associated with advanced prostate cancer and also is used to treat central precocious puberty (CPP; a condition causing children to enter puberty too soon ).
Method Of Administration Of Decapeptyl Syringe
- Decapeptyl® is given as an injection into a muscle (intramuscular). It can be given every 28 days (4 weeks), or as a longer-acting injection every 3 or 6 months.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Decapeptyl Syringe
- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
