Mechanism of action of Progesterone

• Progesterone is a naturally occurring steroid that is secreted by the ovary, placenta, and adrenal gland. 
• In the presence of adequate estrogen, progesterone transforms a proliferative endometrium into a secretory endometrium. 
• Progesterone is necessary to increase endometrial receptivity for implantation of an embryo. 
• Once an embryo is implanted, progesterone acts to maintain a pregnancy.

Therapeutic Indications Of Cyclogest

• Cyclogest (progesterone) is indicated to support embryo implantation and early pregnancy by supplementation of corpus luteal function as part of an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) treatment program for infertile women.

Method Of Administration Of Cyclogest

• The recommended dose is 200 mg once a day or 400 mg twice a day by vaginal or rectal insertion.
• The pessary may be inserted into either the vagina or rectum (back passage) depending upon the following certain other conditions.
• Follow all directions given to you by your doctor carefully.
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
