- Cefaclor, like the penicillins, is a beta-lactam antibiotic. By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, it inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
- Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.
Therapeutic Indications Of Cloracef Forte 500 Mg Capsules
- It is indicated for the treatment of the following infections due to susceptible microorganisms:
- Respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis, exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis
- As part of the management of sinusitis, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections
- Urinary tract infections including pyelonephritis and cystitis
Method Of Administration Of Cloracef Forte 500 Mg Capsules
- Cefaclor is for oral use
- Adults: The usual adult dosage is 250mg every eight hours. For more severe infections or those caused by less susceptible organisms,doses may be doubled
- Pediatric population: The usual recommended daily dosage for children is 20mg/kg/day in divided doses every eight hours
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
