Mechanism Of Action Of Desogestrel 75 Mcg Tablets
- Desogestrel enters the cell passively and acts by binding selectively to the progesterone receptor and generating low androgenic activity. Its binding produces an effect like a transcription factor and thus, it produces modifications in the mRNA synthesis.
- The active metabolite of desogestrel, etonogestrel, presents a combination of high progestational activity with minimal intrinsic androgenicity

- Desogestrel is part of the combined oral contraceptives that contain a mix of estrogen and progestin which inhibit ovulation
- Method Of Administration Of Cerazette 28 Tablets
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- The recommended dose is:
- Tablets must be taken every day at about the same time so that the interval between two tablets always is 24 hours.
- The first tablet should be taken on the first day of menstrual bleeding.
- Thereafter one tablet each day is to be taken continuously, without taking any notice on possible bleeding.
- A new blister is started directly the day after the previous one.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Cerazette 28 Tablets
- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
- mood changes
- decreased mood
- decreased sexual drive (libido)
- headache
- nausea
- acne
- breast pain.
- irregular or no periods.

- Do not use Desogestrel if you are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant.
Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Cerazette 28 Tablets
- Talk to your doctor before using Desogestrel
- if you have ever had breast cancer
- if you have liver cancer, since a possible effect of Desogestrel cannot be excluded
- if you have ever had a thrombosis
- if you have diabetes
- if you suffer from epilepsy
- if you suffer from tuberculosis
- if you have high blood pressure
- if you have or have had chloasma
