Mechanism Of Action Of Cefradine
- Cefradine is a cephalosporin. Like penicillins, it is a beta-lactam antibiotic. It acts by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall thus it inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
- Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.

- Cefradine capsules are used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including:
- Tonsillitis
- Sinusitis
- Pharyngitis
- Laryngo-tracheobronchitis
- Ear infections (otitis media)
- Chest infections (bronchitis or pneumonia)
- Skin infections
- Bladder, urethra (the tube which carries urine from the bladder), and kidney infections
Method Of Administration Of Ceframed 500 Mg Capsules
- The capsules should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and can be taken before or after meals.
- However, if you find that this medicine upsets your stomach it may help to take it with food.
- The recommended dose is 250mg or 500mg 4 times a day or 500mg-1000mg 2 times daily
- If you are giving Cefradine Capsules to your child, your doctor will work out the right dose depending on your child’s weight.
- The recommended dose is 25mg to 50mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
