Mechanism Of Action Of Cefpodoxime
- Cefpodoxime is a cephalosporin. Like penicillins, it is a beta-lactam antibiotic. It acts by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall thus it inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis.
- Without a cell wall, a bacterial cell is vulnerable to outside water and molecular pressures, which causes the cell to quickly die.

- Cefpodoxime is used to treat infections of:
- Acute otitis media
- Pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis
- Community-acquired pneumonia
- Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
- Acute, uncomplicated urethral and cervical gonorrhea
Method Of Administration Of Cefodox 200 Mg Tablets
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Take this medication by mouth, usually every 12 hours or as directed by your doctor.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.

- It is also contraindicated in patients with previous history of immediate and / or severe hypersensitivity reaction (anaphylaxis) to penicillin or other betalactam antibiotic.
