- This medicine works inside the intestines (bowels) to reduce inflammation associated with multiple diseases. For example, mild to moderately active Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and inflammatory bowel disease

- used for the treatment of inflammation of the large intestine (colon) and rectum (back passage) known by doctors as ulcerative colitis.
- It may be used alone or, particularly in the acute phase, with corticosteroids.
- It can also be used to control the condition and prevent it from coming back.
