Mechanism Of Action Of Sodium Cromoglicate 2 % Eye/Nose Drops
- Cromoglicate inhibits degranulation of mast cells, subsequently preventing the release of histamine and slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A), mediators of type I allergic reactions. Cromoglicate also may reduce the release of inflammatory leukotrienes. Cromoglicate may act by inhibiting calcium influx.
Therapeutic Indications Of Apicrom Eye/Nose Drops
- Treatment and prevention of signs and symptoms of Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.
- For the treatment and prevention of the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, especially seasonal sinusitis.
Method Of Administration Of Apicrom Eye/Nose Drops
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Apicrom Eye/Nose Drops
- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
- Stinging/redness in the eye widened pupils, or blurred vision may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Apicrom Eye/Nose Drops
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
- Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Apicrom Eye/Nose Drops
- Most eye drops can cause a short-term blurring of vision when first used so you should wait until your eyes are clear before driving or using machines.
- If you wear soft contact lenses. Do not use the drops while your contact lenses are in your eyes.
- Wait 10 -15 minutes after using the eye drops before putting your lenses back into your eyes.
- Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop throat tightness or swelling of the eyes, face, lips or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing.
- Stop using the product if you develop itching of the face or body.
Storage Conditions Of Apicrom Eye/Nose Drops
- Store below 25°c
- Don’t refrigerate
- After opening the drops are safe for the eye for a period of 28 days. After this, using the drops can cause serious damage to the eye as bacteria may have been introduced.
- Keep this product out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
- Do not use this product after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label.
- The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
