Hydrocortisone succinate is a corticosteroid used to treat severe allergic reactions, dermatologic diseases, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, and hematological disorders.

Hydrocortisone is a used for the following:
When your adrenal gland is not working properly (e.g. adrenal insufficiency).
To treat shock (a serious condition when your body is not getting enough blood flow).
To treat certain inflammatory conditions.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The injection is given as a shot in the muscle or into a vein. Your doctor or nurse will inject you.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Stomach upset, headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, appetite changes, menstrual period changes, acne, or pain/redness/swelling at the injection site may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
This medication may raise your blood pressure. Check your blood pressure regularly and tell your doctor if the results are high.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine including:

If you have Myasthenia Gravis or other muscle problems.
If you have liver or kidney problems.
If you have pancreatitis (inflamed pancreas).
If you have stomach ulcers.
If you have osteoporosis (thinning bones).
If you have a spreading (metastatic) cancer.
If you have or may have a condition called pheochromocytoma.
If you have Cushing’s disease.
If you have seizures (fits).
If you have eye conditions such as glaucoma or cataract.
If you have fluid retention in your body (edema).
If you have an under-active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism).
If you have a traumatic brain injury or stroke.
If you have heart problems or had a recent heart attack.
If you have a high blood pressure (hypertension).
If you have any type of infection including viral infections, tuberculosis, and HIV.
If you have a severe depression or manic depression.
If you have diabetes.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
