Ofloxacin is a bactericidal antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class.
Ofloxacin inhibits DNA replication by inhibiting bacterial DNA topoisomerase and DNA-gyrase which are necessary to separate bacterial DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division.

It is used to treat certain superficial infections of the eye caused by bacteria.
