Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic used to reduce or prevent hemorrhagic episodes, especially in the context of hyperfibrinolytic disorders.

Used for the treatment of cyclic heavy menstrual bleeding (period) when it can affect your quality of life by getting in the way of leisure, social, and physical activities.
This medicine has shown its ability to decrease the amount of blood lost during your monthly period by around one-third, but it does not completely stop your period.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The usual recommended dose is 2 tablets orally 3 times daily
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
Possible side effects include allergic reactions, blood clots (especially when used with other medicines that may interact with Tranexamic acid) and eye changes.
Most common side effects include headache, anemia, backache, fatigue, abdominal pain, pain in your joints or muscles, and sinus or nasal problems. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any side effects.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Stop the medication right away and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood pressure, and dizziness.
Make sure that you tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you currently have or have previously had a blood clot or been told that you are at risk of developing a blood clot.
Using products that contain hormones along with tranexamic acid may increase the risk of developing a heart attack, blood clot, or stroke. Make sure that you tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you are using a contraceptive method (birth control) that has hormones (e.g. patch, birth control pill, vaginal ring, or intrauterine device).
The risk of developing blood clots may be higher when this medicine is taken with some other medicines like hormonal contraceptives (birth control), medicines that increase blood clotting, and some medicines used for the treatment of leukemia.
