Budesonide is a potent glucocorticoid anti-inflammatory agent.
This medicine works inside the intestines (bowels) to reduce inflammation associated with multiple diseases. For example, mild to moderate active Crohn's disease and Inflammatory bowel disease

ulcerative colitis which is an inflammation of the large intestine (colon) and the rectum.
acute episodes of microscopic colitis which is a disease with chronic inflammation of the large intestine (colon) typically with chronic watery diarrhea.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Doses may change from patient to patient based on your age, your medical condition and whether or not you are taking other medicines.
Continue taking your medicine for as long as your doctor tells you.
Do not stop taking the medicine or lower the dose without first checking with your doctor.
The recommended dose for ulcerative colitis and microscopic colitis is one tablet in the morning before or with breakfast.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; the tablet must not be broken, crushed or chewed.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:

Cushing-like symptoms, such as a round face, acne, weight gain and a tendency to bruise easily
Low potassium levels in the blood, which can cause muscle weakness or fatigue, thirst or a tingling sensation
Change in behavior, such as nervousness, insomnia and mood swings
Depression
Headache
Pounding heart beats (palpitations)
Nausea
Stomach ache
Bloated abdomen
Dry mouth
Indigestion (dyspepsia)
Skin rash or itchiness
Acne
Muscle pain, muscle cramps
Heavy or irregular menstruation in women
Extreme tiredness (fatigue)
Decrease of the hormone cortisol in the blood

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breast-feeding

Try to drink plenty of liquids daily. Focus on water and reduce caffeine
Try to eat smaller portion and avoid heavy meals
Stop smoking as soon as possible as smoking may worse your condition
Avoid any stress
Bowel inflammation may affect vitamins and mineral absorption so consult your physician or pharmacist about multivitamins

if you have an infection, such as a virus infection, a bacterial infection or a fungal infection
if you have ever had high blood pressure
if you have diabetes
if you ever had brittle bones
if you ever had a stomach ulcer
if you ever had elevated eyeball pressure (glaucoma)
if you ever had liver problems
if you are scheduled to undergo surgery soon
if you have not yet had measles or chickenpox.
if you or a close family member have had problems with mental health.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements.
