Hydroxychloroquine sulfate works by reducing inflammation in people with autoimmune diseases.

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.

Doses may change from patient to patient based on your age, your medical condition, and whether or not you are taking other medicines.
Take this medicine with food or a glass of milk.
Swallow the tablet whole, do not break or crush.
Do not take antacids within 4 hours of this medicine
For rheumatoid arthritis, the usual dosing is 1-2 tablets, once or twice daily.
For malaria prevention, the usual dosing is 2 tablets once weekly on the same day each week; begin 1 to 2 weeks before travel.
For malaria treatment, the usual dosing is 800 mg then 400 mg after 6 hours, 12 hours, and 48 hours after the first dose.
For children, the dose is weight-based. Your doctor will determine the dose.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
